sweet summer
Inspired by my trip up to Salem a few monthes ago and a cast iron whale I found I am still on the nautical theme in my paintings. Just finished this little gem...
"Little Whales and Ships at Sea"
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5080439

The whale...A small treasure to behold (and it weighs a TON)

Oh the summer seems so long and it's only been one week! The heat is making my head spin (hence all the swirls in this painting perhaps) and I have been sitting indoors sipping sparkling pink lemonade working on my art. This had been a transitional week for sure...I am getting back into my walking/ hiking/ running routine and soaking up all the inspiration I can for paintings and art this summer. I bought the most daring little plant called a Pincusion Plant or Nertera Granadensi. The only plant I have ever been able to keep alive is ivy so I decided to try my partial green thumb on this little guy. He is very tempermental indeed but so, so pretty.
Windowsill in the studio...

I spotted these two little guys outside my home. There are rabbits all over the place this summer. These two were mirroring each other.

I have been collecting pretty papers. I especially love this one...

Orange is such a wonderful color. It cheers like no other.

What a beautiful painting, Sarah! I received my poppy print in the mail - it was so fun to receive such a brightly decorated envelope. Thanks for the extra special surprise with it! My hubby and I both LOVE the prints (I shall get after him to make a special frame for them).
Those bunnies are so adorable. We have bunnies in our yard, but they scamper away too quickly and more often make their appearance in the evening.
That paper is so gorgeous!

oh, I am SOOOO happy that you like the prints! You rock for supporting my art in the way you do!
I would LOVE to see a picture if your husband makes frames for the prints. Have a happy rest-of-the-weekend. 'Tis beautiful!

Oh, I was hoping you had posted!! I love that you've added whales to your ship themed work. I have a thing for killer whales and had past life dreams, (so I've been told) of being a woman stowing away/ kidnapped on a whaling ship. Yes, it was bizarre- I was Portuguese- not unlike the raven haired lady you've painted. Hmmm....
I'm in love with this pincushion plant and hoping it thrives for you!!
Orange can certainly cheer- I'm off to eat one! ;) Oh, and have you had any peaches yet this summer? Marvelously juicy and sweet- I ate a bunch on my trip to FLA. I digress... sorry. :)

I'll be checking out this next one too.
I've never had a pincushion plant, but it looks to be a succulent. I've had jades in the past- one was huge and it died when I moved it outside for "more sun." I learned these types of plants can be finicky if it is indeed a succulent too. I would suggest keeping it in one spot and caution against overwatering.
What type of cherries? Mt. Rainier and Bing are the ones most often in my grocery stores and they are both so yummy!!

Great painting!

I have rabbits EVERYWHERE as well.

I like to collect the pretty papers too...I usually look where ever I can [i.e. scrapbooking stores, art stores, craft stores, and even some gift stores] - might I ask where you are finding yours? I love that one!! I love the orange and the damask! Check this site out. :)

Hope things are well.

xo
